Most squishies are rated 3 and over because smaller pieces and decorative parts are a choking risk for younger children. Always check the rating on the individual product page rather than assuming.

What should a parent look for?

A batch number and an importer name on the packaging, and a strong chemical smell as the thing to avoid. In July 2026 the UK regulator withdrew a squishy dumpling that carried no batch number at all, which made it impossible to trace.
